Terms of Service
Last updated: 18.03.2026
1. Overview
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the umu.ro platform. By creating an account or using any feature of the platform, you expressly agree to these terms in full.
If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the platform.
The umu.ro platform is operated by a private individual based in Romania, under applicable European law, including Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), Romanian Law no. 190/2018 implementing the GDPR, and Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 on a single market for digital services (DSA). You can reach the operator at: i@umu.ro.
2. Description of the service
umu.ro is a link-in-bio platform that allows users to create a public profile at umu.ro/username, where they can centralise links to their content, social networks, or activities.
Access to the platform is currently invitation-based. Interested individuals may request a handle via the form on the home page; the operator reserves the right to approve or decline any request without being obliged to provide a reason.
The platform offers a free plan (up to 5 links) and a Pro plan (launching soon, with extended features). Available features may change over time, and the operator may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or pricing tier with reasonable prior notice.
3. Eligibility and registration
To use umu.ro you must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, your use of the platform must be approved by a parent or legal guardian.
When registering, you agree to provide accurate and complete information and to keep it up to date. The email address you provide at registration is verified via a confirmation link sent automatically β your account becomes active only after confirming your address.
An account is personal and may not be transferred to another person. You are responsible for all activity carried out under your account.
You agree to keep your password confidential and to notify the operator immediately of any unauthorised access to your account. For security reasons, authenticated sessions expire automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity.
4. User content and intellectual property
You retain ownership of any content you publish on the platform β links, text, profile photos, and other materials ("user content").
By publishing user content on umu.ro, you grant the operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable licence, limited to the purpose of displaying, storing, and delivering that content to visitors who access your profile. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
The umu.ro brand, design, source code, and all original elements of the platform belong to the operator and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or use these elements without prior written consent from the operator.
5. Permitted use and restrictions
By using the platform, you agree to comply with applicable Romanian and EU law β including the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (DSA) on illegal content β and not to use the platform to:
- Publish, distribute, or promote illegal content, including content that incites violence or hatred based on race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or disability.
- Distribute child sexual abuse material (CSAM) β any such content will be immediately reported to the competent authorities and removed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2021/1232.
- Impersonate another person or entity.
- Publish links to malware, phishing sites, fraudulent content, or other harmful resources.
- Engage in spam or automated (bot) use of the platform without the operator's prior consent, in accordance with Romanian Law no. 506/2004 on unsolicited electronic communications.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform's systems or other users' accounts.
- Circumvent the free plan limits by creating multiple accounts.
- Engage in any activity that disrupts the operation or availability of the platform.
6. Moderation and suspension
The operator reserves the right to investigate any suspected misuse of the platform and to take proportionate action, including:
- Disabling individual links that violate these terms.
- Temporarily or permanently suspending an account.
- Removing user content that violates these terms.
In non-urgent cases, the operator will make reasonable efforts to notify the user before taking moderation action, stating the reasons for the decision in accordance with Art. 17 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (DSA). In serious cases (illegal content, imminent harm), action may be taken immediately and without prior notice.
Users may appeal a moderation decision by emailing i@umu.ro. The operator will review the appeal and respond within a reasonable timeframe.
7. Limitation of liability
The umu.ro platform is provided "as is", without warranties of continuous availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. The operator does not guarantee a specific uptime level for the free plan.
The operator is not responsible for the content of external links that user profiles link to. You are solely responsible for the legality and appropriateness of the links you publish.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of or inability to use the platform.
8. Data protection
The processing of your personal data is governed by the platform's Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms of Service.
The platform complies with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), Romanian Law no. 190/2018 on measures implementing the GDPR, and Romanian Law no. 506/2004 on the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector.
9. Account termination
You may request deletion of your account at any time, either directly from your account settings page (Settings β Delete account), or by emailing i@umu.ro. Upon deletion, your data is removed in accordance with the retention policy described in the Privacy Policy.
The operator may terminate your account for violations of these Terms of Service. The sections on intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law remain in effect after termination.
10. Changes to these terms
The operator may update these terms periodically. Significant changes will be communicated to registered users by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
The current version is always available at umu.ro/terms.
11. Governing law and dispute resolution
These terms are governed by Romanian law and applicable European regulations. Any dispute will first be subject to an amicable resolution procedure. In the absence of agreement, disputes will be resolved by the competent courts in Romania.
